Working for strong schools, safe streets and smart development in my local community as well as the state of Maryland and America. Supporting legislation that can transform the lives of marginalized communities (black/brown people girls/women disabled/elderly). I believe that one person can make a difference!

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

This month, June 2021, Juneteenth was established as a federal holiday and a police officer was sentenced to 22 years for killing a black man. We can celebrate these events or we can complain that these events do not go far enough. But what we can not do is give up trying.

This year Maryland finally repealed the Law Enforcement Bill of Rights. Maryland's new law gives citizens more oversight and holds police to a higher standard. This was not done over night nor was it a slam dunk. It took hard work, organization, coalition building and political will.

Now is not the time to give up on the political process. Now is the time to be more engaged on the local, state and federal level. Each one of us can make a difference.
